'Significant amount' of palm oil found on beach starts the article for this week's blog. As my owner often says "don't give me any of your old soft soap", I thought.
But no its true large amounts of palm oil have been washing up on beaches in East Sussex. Turns out it is probably the cause of ships that carry the oil having their cargo bays washed out at sea. The oil hits the cold water and Bob Martin's your uncle (another shameless plug for free stuff) and lumps of the stuff wash up on our shores.
Why am I telling you this? Well let me just say if eaten by dogs it can be a messy end! Not necessarily fatal but one end can become very messy if you get my drift. In serious cases the opposite effect can occur and a serious blockage can result. Either way if you are taking your human out along the coast, make sure you don't let them near it, or go near it yourself.
Oh and if you meet a fellow canine that smells like they've eaten a bar of coconut soap, definitely be careful when making the familiar greeting ritual, you may get more than you bargained for.
